2021 Volkswagen Atlas: An Affordable 3-Row Family SUV

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas gets several cosmetic updates and interior improvements as well, making it highly suitable for modern drivers. The topmost variant, which is also its best equipped trim, is the Volkswagen Atlas V6 SEL Premium R-Line with 4Motion. At the lower end is the S trim, with an engine producing lesser power than its earlier model.

Trims:

Customers looking for the VW Atlas can look at six trim levels. S, V6 SE and V6 SEL are the three broad categories. A detailed classification is given below:

  • V6 SEL with 4Motion®
  • V6 SEL Premium R-Line with 4Motion®
  • V6 SEL Premium with 4Motion®
  • V6 SE with Technology
  • V6 SE with Tech. with 4Motion®
  • S

A three-row SUV from a reputed brand like VW is very affordable for most families, and this is what makes the S popular. In fact, it is available in both two and three row configurations. If buyers are searching for greater storage options, along with a more powerful engine and other options, they will automatically consider the V6 SE and SEL trim levels.

Engine Options:

There are two engine options available for the latest VW Atlas. These include:

  • A 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with 235 hp and 258 lb-ft torque.
  • A 3.6 liter V6 with 276 hp and 266 lbs.-ft torque.

Both the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which delivers power to the wheels fast. Buyers get either FWD (Front Wheel Drive) or 4-wheel drive on every trim.

Exterior Appearance:

The V6 SEL with 4Motion Trim gets good-looking R-line badges and bumpers on the outside, allowing it to stand out from the others. Alloy trims are different from the previous year, and the SUV gets butch-looking 20 inch for 2021. The design of the rear exhaust tips appears new. Several sections of the front and the rear ends have redesigned. Its length is now 3 inches more than the 2018 and 2019 models.

LED all weather lights can be seen at the front, along with LED headlights and daytime running lights. There are also chrome roof rails for a typically sporty look.

Interior Appearance:

The driver’s seat in this SUV gets a 3-seating memory configuration, like what was available last year. Remote start is also an added convenience feature. Passengers would enjoy sitting in the heated leather seats of this SUV, considering that winter is here. Interior styling gets many updates, making it classier than earlier versions.

The telescopic steering wheel allows users to pull it out and adjust it as per convenience. Steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls are also available. The SUV gets a 6-speaker audio system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto integration. Its touchscreen is indeed very intuitive for passengers, who can enjoy continuous connectivity by virtue of WiFi with 4G LTE capability here.

Available Safety Features:

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas gets several standard safety features across all trims. Some of the high quality features are mentioned below:

  • Rear view camera
  • Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS)
  • Strong safety cage, with front and rear crumple zones
  • Automatic Post Collision Braking System
